About the Position

Job Title: Surgical Technologist Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Surgical Tech Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: CST required, proficient in all specialties Hours per Shift: Guaranteed hours may apply Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: Preferred License: Surgical Technician Certification: Preferred Certifications: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required Must-Have: Operating room experience and training: Preferred Description: Assists the surgical team in the preparation of surgical procedures in the operating room. Prepares surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field. Retracts and passes instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases. Performs a variety of technical skills, including the maintenance of supplies. Essential Functions: Prepares for each surgical case by accurately checking required supplies and equipment prior to the case. Assembles appropriate supplies and equipment prior to operative procedures. Reviews equipment inventory for specialty as assigned. Sets up operative instrumentation and sterile field for expedient retrieval and utilization. Collects data on assigned surgical cases by the unit based performance standards of care. Cleans equipment and facilities as necessary. Performs housekeeping duties as requested. Transports patients according to unit schedules and priorities. Provides clerical duties. Completes instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse according to established standards. Sets up and maintains a neat and orderly sterile field demonstrating careful attention to aseptic technique. Labels solutions according to established standards. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Organizational Requirements: Commitment to the safety and wellbeing of associates and patients is essential. Required vaccinations are necessary as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. Participation in E-Verify is required. This department includes all functions related to operating room services, including intraoperative patient care. It may also include other operating room support functions.
