Job Description:


- Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of chemotherapy patients?
- As a Chemotherapy Nurse, you will provide both direct and indirect care to patients undergoing chemotherapy, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care.
- Collaborate with Chemotherapy Physicians and Nurse Practitioners, as well as your Nurse Manager and fellow team members, to communicate changes in patient conditions and stay updated on policies and procedures.
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient and unit conditions, maintaining a focus on safe and quality patient care.
- Engage in a variety of responsibilities, including:
- Administrative functions
- Teaching and triage
- Counseling and supervision
- Delegation and expertise in administering chemotherapy medications
- Responsible for initiating and managing the computerized Plan of Care/Standard of Care from patient admission onward.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives within our organization.

Qualifications:


- Education Required:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; ongoing education in your field is a must.
- Preferred: BSN.
- Licenses/Certifications Required:
- Minimum of one year of experience in acute care or medical/surgical nursing.
- Required: Current RN license in the State of Oregon, BLS, and ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider Card.
- Preferred: Oncology Nursing Certification, to be obtained ideally within 3 years of hire.


Knowledge and Skills:


- Commitment to providing culturally competent and patient-centered care.
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team.
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment to ensure optimal patient care.
- Strong critical thinking skills.

Physical Requirements:


- Ability to detect and respond to various sounds including patient alarms and verbal communication.
- Clear and effective communication skills for interaction with patients and healthcare team members.
- Visual acuity for monitoring patient conditions, reading documentation, and distinguishing colors.
- Motor coordination for handling medical equipment and performing patient care tasks.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds independently, with additional assistance as needed.
- Frequent walking and standing are required throughout the shift.

Working Conditions:


- Primarily indoor healthcare setting, subject to variable indoor temperatures.
- Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment.
- Fast-paced, unpredictable environment requiring quick responses to changing circumstances.
- Management of multiple simultaneous demands with varying levels of noise.
