Intake Coordinator

Intake Coordinator - Mental Health

Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work with LMSW or PLPC required.
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health levels of care, insurance authorization processes, and patient intake workflows.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and customer-service skills.
Core Responsibilities
  • Support and uphold Beacon Behavioral Health's Mission, Vision, and Core Values .
  • Demonstrate Beacon's 5 Commandments for Exceptional Customer Service in all patient, family, and referral interactions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for intake and referral inquiries , ensuring timely, accurate documentation and follow-up.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referral sources, patients, families, and internal clinical teams .
  • Review clinical information gathered during initial inquiries to assist in level-of-care determinations .
  • Schedule face-to-face level-of-care assessments within 24 hours of initial contact.
  • Communicate Beacon's services clearly, including program offerings, admission criteria, regulatory requirements, and insurance considerations.
  • Facilitate referrals to community-based or alternative levels of care when admission is not clinically appropriate.
  • Guide patients and caregivers through the admission process , including obtaining required consents and documentation.
  • Obtain insurance pre-certifications and collaborate with billing teams regarding payer requirements.
  • Track and maintain referral data, providing weekly reports to leadership.
  • Collect and document patient and physician feedback , contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities as directed by leadership.
