Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in stroke stepdown nursing. The successful candidate will operate in a fast-paced medical-surgical unit, providing exceptional care to a diverse adult patient population.
Unit Information
- Unit: Medical Surgical (MS)
- Shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
- Number of Beds: 64
- Common Diagnoses: Stroke, altered mental status, renal failure, dialysis, COPD, CHF, general medical-surgical issues, pneumonia, and pulmonary complications.
- Floating: Required
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with a variety of medical conditions.
- Monitor patient health, assess vital signs, and report significant changes to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Utilize specialty equipment including IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized patient care plans.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York and any other active licenses.
- Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications are required; NIHSS certification can be obtained prior to start.
- Strong proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), specifically EPIC.
- Possess a valid driver's license with an address matching current demographics.
