CMM Programmer / Quality Lab Technician Position Summary
Responsible for programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) using PC-DMIS, creating inspection programs from CAD models, interpreting blueprints and GD&T, and supporting the daily operations of the quality lab. Works closely with Engineering and Quality teams to analyze measurement results, troubleshoot inspection issues, and maintain accurate measurement systems. Key Responsibilities
- Program and operate CMMs using PC-DMIS for various parts and gauges.
- Create CMM programs from supplied CAD models/files .
- Interpret customer and internal blueprints using GD&T principles .
- Align and secure parts, fixtures, and gauges for accurate measurement.
- Manage the weekly CMM inspection schedule and maintain program/data organization.
- Communicate CMM inspection results and measurement data to Engineering and Quality teams.
- Calibrate and troubleshoot Brown & Sharpe and Mitutoyo CMM equipment .
- Identify and address measurement system and inspection-method concerns.
- Prepare Measurement System Analysis (MSA) reports as required.
- Analyze inspection data to identify trends and potential manufacturing issues.
- Support quality procedures, internal audits, and IATF 16949 documentation requirements.
- Maintain accurate customer quality files and measurement records.
- Support continuous improvement activities within the quality function.
- Perform administrative and other duties as assigned.
- 3 5 years of CMM, metrology, quality, or automotive manufacturing experience .
- Strong experience with PC-DMIS CMM programming and operation .
- Knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, CAD models, and dimensional inspection .
- Understanding of metrology, measurement techniques, sensors, and probes.
- Experience with CMM calibration, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance.
- Knowledge of SPC, data analysis, and measurement system analysis .
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft/Google applications and CMM-related software.
- Experience with Plex and Tier 1 automotive manufacturing is preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Work in both office and manufacturing/quality lab environments .
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment, noise, and potentially hazardous equipment.
- Occasional lifting/carrying of materials up to 25 50 lbs. , with heavier lifting potentially required.
- Must follow applicable safety procedures when working around manufacturing equipment.
- Saturday work may be required
