Employment Litigation Attorney

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate new matters, including liability, damages, and overall case viability.
• Draft demand letters, complaints, statutory notices, pleadings, motions, discovery, and mediation/trial briefs.
• Manage DFEH/CRD and EEOC charge filings and right-to-sue processes.
• Develop litigation and case strategies, including mediation and settlement approaches.
• Manage an active caseload involving FEHA discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour, whistleblower, and retaliation matters.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents and case-related strategies.
• Negotiate pre-litigation and litigation matters with opposing counsel and in-house counsel.
• Conduct depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Handle court appearances, hearings, case management conferences, and trials as needed.
• Communicate directly with clients and effectively manage client expectations throughout each stage of a case.
• Take ownership of assigned matters while collaborating with senior attorneys and firm leadership.

Qualifications

• Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
• At least 2 years of employment law litigation experience; plaintiff-side or defense experience will be considered.
• Demonstrated experience drafting demand letters, complaints, motions, and other litigation documents in California.
• Experience handling depositions and court hearings.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload and competing deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and case-management skills.
• Ability to take ownership of cases and exercise sound independent judgment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with FEHA, PAGA, and/or wage and hour matters.
• Experience negotiating pre-litigation resolutions directly with employers or in-house counsel.
• Spanish or Farsi bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
