Occupational Therapist

We’re looking for compassionate, skilled Occupational Therapists who are passionate about helping residents maintain independence, build confidence, and engage more fully in daily life. In this role, you will partner with residents, families, and the care team to deliver thoughtful, evidence-based therapy that supports safety, function, and overall well-being. This role reports to the Director of Rehabilitation.

What You’ll Do

• Evaluate residents’ ability to participate in daily activities and identify occupational therapy needs
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical judgment, resident goals, physician orders, and best practices
• Provide therapeutic interventions that support independence, safety, and quality of life
• Monitor resident progress, document outcomes, and adjust treatment plans as needed
• Recommend additional consultations or services when appropriate
• Support discharge and transition planning, including restorative programs and follow-up resources
• Educate residents, families, and caregivers on home programs, daily living skills, and adaptive equipment
• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, students, and Rehabilitation Aides in accordance with applicable standards and guidelines
• Provide in-service education and training for staff and caregivers as needed
• Ensure billing information for occupational therapy services is submitted to the Business Office in a timely manner
• Complete documentation accurately, thoroughly, and on time
• Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in fire, safety, and disaster preparedness drills

• Ensure therapy services are aligned with each resident’s care plan
• Honor resident choices, including refusals of treatment, and document them appropriately
• Maintain a safe environment for residents, families, and team members

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ACOTE-accredited occupational therapy program (or equivalent recognized program)
• Successful completion of required supervised fieldwork
• Passed a nationally recognized entry-level examination for Occupational Therapists
• Current and unencumbered Occupational Therapist license, registration, or certification as required by state law
• Working knowledge of occupational therapy principles, practices, and documentation standards
• Commitment to the AOTA Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and continuing competence
• Foreign-educated candidates must meet all state licensure requirements or qualify for an approved traineeship under the direct supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist

Physical Requirements

• Adequate vision and hearing to perform essential job duties
• Ability to safely lift, transfer, and assist residents several times per day
• Ability to stand and move throughout the facility for extended periods
• Ability to push wheelchairs and beds, carry equipment, and reach overhead as needed
• Ability to perform tasks requiring reasoning, sequencing, judgment, and basic math skills
