Part-Time Houseman- UES, NYC

Houseman/Handyman Position

A private family is seeking a reliable, hands-on Houseman/Handyman to assist with the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of their home on the UES of Manhattan. The ideal candidate will have strong maintenance skills and be able to independently troubleshoot and resolve routine household issues. This is a flexible, part-time opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Handle routine household maintenance, repairs, and odd jobs independently.
• Ensure the home and surrounding areas are clean, orderly, and functioning properly.
• Maintain exterior areas, including sweeping and general upkeep.
• Replace light bulbs and perform other basic household tasks.
• Troubleshoot and address minor plumbing issues, such as running toilets.
• Identify maintenance problems and determine when a professional vendor is required.
• Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as needed.
• Move/lift heavy items, including gym equipment, for cleaning and maintenance.
• Check on the property when the family is traveling or away for extended periods.
• Respond to unexpected household maintenance needs.
• Assist with snow removal during storms.
• Communicate proactively with the family regarding maintenance concerns and completed work.
• Maintain a high standard of care for the property and its contents.

Qualifications

• Strong handyman, maintenance, or facilities experience required.
• Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve common household maintenance issues.
• Broad practical knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general home maintenance.
• Resourceful and solutions-oriented.
• Reliable, trustworthy, and comfortable working independently.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Professional, respectful, and discreet when working in a private home.

Schedule: Part-time with flexible schedule, approximately 45 hours per day, depending on the family's needs. Weekend availability is important, although exact days and hours are flexible. Ideally, work should be completed before 7:00 PM.

Salary: $45 - $50 per hour
