Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Psychiatry

Description

This is an on-site, contract position designed for an Associate-level physician who is passionate about delivering high-quality mental health care to patients in need. As part of our team, you will work in a collaborative clinical environment where patient outcomes and compassionate care are the top priorities.

In this role, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and more complex mental health presentations. You will provide both medication management and therapeutic guidance, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans. Your clinical expertise will directly contribute to improving the well-being of patients across the community.

 

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for patients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring patient response and adjusting as needed.
• Provide psychotherapy services, including individual, group, and family sessions where applicable.
• Collaborate with primary care physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
• Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
• Participate in case reviews, clinical meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Stay current with advances in psychiatric medicine and incorporate them into clinical practice.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry is strongly preferred.
• Valid, unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Illinois.
• Active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
• Experience in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment at an Associate level.
• Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Level II Trauma

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-4p

Call Requirement: 1x 24-hour shift per week, 1 weekend per month

Setting: Inpatient

Patient Population: Children, adolescents, and adults

Support Staff: APPs

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified
