Location: Boston

Salary Range: $86,000–$96,000 commensurate with experience
Job Type: Full-Time. Monday through Thursday in-office, Fridays remote.

We are seeking a Communications Manager for Editorial & PR, who will be responsible for shaping and amplifying our firm’s external voice through compelling storytelling across platforms. With a focus on writing and editing, the role translating complex ideas into accessible written content for a range of audiences. The Manager oversees the editorial calendar and manages content for print and digital media while also providing meaningful PR support, helping to elevate project stories, thought leadership, and firm milestones. Across all work, the Manager ensures alignment with our brand, messaging, and strategic priorities.

The Manager reports to the Director of Communications & PR and has one direct report. The role closely collaborates with other communications team members and regularly interfaces with colleagues of all levels across the firm. This role requires at least 7 years of communications experience, preferably within the AEC industry. Candidates with experience in media/publishing are also encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Editorial & Content

• Leads planning and development of the firm's thought leadership and internally-produced content calendar, aligning production timelines with editorial strategy and firmwide goals.

• Identifies editorial and media-worthy themes in close collaboration with the Director, leveraging an in-depth understanding of the practice to connect firmwide milestones, disciplines, and design projects to broader industry and client conversations.

• Writes, edits, and positions external communications content to elevate the firm's brand and advance strategic business objectives.

• Translates overarching themes and strategic priorities into clear, actionable writing projects and assignments for communications coordinators and freelance contributors.

• Manages content strategy and production for firm publications, ensuring they resonate with audiences, reflect the firm’s brand, and serve long-term goals.

• Contributes high-level writing and insights to articles, blog posts, newsletters, and other content in close collaboration with firm principals, design practitioners, and communications team members.

• Manages social media content tied to thought leadership, firm/project milestones, media placements, and practice updates, optimizing messages by platform.

• Collaborates with the Communications Manager (Digital & Creative) to ensure continuity of voice across platforms and to cultivate storytelling and communications knowledge across the firm.

Media/PR

• Supports media/PR strategies alongside the Director, translating complex design concepts into compelling briefs, press releases, and talking points.

• Manages and supports the work of the Communications Coordinator (Editorial & Content) as it relates to press kits, media lists, and coverage tracking.

• Attends media-focused events, meetings, interviews, and firm milestones as needed.

People & Team

• Coach and support the professional growth of direct reports through regular feedback, skill development plans, and writing/editing mentorship.

• Manage the workload of one or more Communications Coordinators; hire and manage freelance writers as-needed.

• Review and approve the writing, editorial output, press materials, and publication content of direct reports.
