Job Description

The Nursing Supervisor reports to the Director and is accountable for the management of nursing and ancillary personnel, as well as patient care within the assigned area. The role involves supporting the nursing service department's philosophy and objectives, and ensuring adherence to hospital policies and procedures. The Nursing Supervisor will consistently strive for superior performance in providing exceptional service that enhances the patient and family experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate a nursing care delivery system within the assigned areas.
• Identify departmental problems and collaborate with staff to develop effective solutions.
• Establish and maintain appropriate staffing levels for safe and responsible patient care.
• Provide clinical support and resources for nursing staff.
• Promote effective communication and working relationships among nursing staff and other departments.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance efforts.
• Conduct rounds on patients and staff to ensure high standards of care and address concerns.
• Manage staff recruitment, retention, and performance evaluations.
• Conduct departmental meetings and oversee the preparation of policies and procedures.
• Ensure safety and risk management through monthly safety rounds and evaluations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 5+ years of RN experience - REQUIRED
• 2+ years of Operating Room experience - REQUIRED
• 1+ years of nursing supervision experience in an acute care setting within the last two years - REQUIRED
• Previous management experience - HIGHLY PREFERRED
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, CNOR - REQUIRED
• Active Michigan RN License - REQUIRED
