Lead Fleet Maintenance TechnicianFleet Maintenance Technicians are responsible for maintaining and repairing transportation delivery equipment used for the delivery and unloading of merchandise at Chick-fil-A restaurants.The Lead Fleet Maintenance Technician is responsible for servicing a broad array of equipment, including heavy duty tractors, refrigeration units, insulated trailers and hydraulic liftgates in a safe, orderly, and timely fashion to maximize equipment availability for delivery. They are also responsible for completing maintenance and repairs to transportation equipment air conditioning and refrigeration units.The Lead Fleet Maintenance Technician provides Fleet Maintenance Technicians and other personnel into dynamic problem-solving team members focused on caring for their teammates in Transportation, the Distribution Center and ultimately the Operators and Restaurants. StaffResponsibilities:Perform preventative, and corrective maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications, fleet management policies, work order instructions, and safety, quality, and compliance requirementsDevelops strategies and plans to align available resources and external service providers with the needs of Transportation Operations to maximize the availability of safe and reliable equipmentPlans and dispatches daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance activities, including the coordination of services from external vendorsMaintains parts inventory and performs Monthly Inventory to accurately account for all parts spendPlans equipment moves for maintenance to maximize uptime availability for the transportation teamProactively communicates with Transportation Operations / DC Operations all maintenance issues which can disrupt delivery service to restaurantsSupports off-shift critical work and emergency repairsCompletes thorough documentation and closes out work orders for repairs and maintenance activities in the Fleet Maintenance Management SystemDiagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems, utilizing technology/software where applicableCompletes complex and detailed mechanical and electrical inspection and repairs with minimum supervisionInspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipmentIdentifies root cause for defects and performs repairs accordinglyRepair delivery equipment, tractors, trailers, bobtails and passenger vehicles or any piece of equipment used for the delivery and unloading of restaurant merchandiseUse hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, drill press and jacks and hoistsRaise trucks and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoistsImmediately communicate problems with Supervisor or ManagerObey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation proceduresAdhere to Federal Motor Carrier GuidelinesMay be required to operate a company vehicle to repair equipment as part of a roadside service callMaintain a clean and organized (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):EPA 608 & EPA 609 CertificationDemonstrated proficiency in the diagnostics and repair of brake systems both air and hydraulicDemonstrated proficiency in the diagnostics and repair of diesel enginesDemonstrated proficiency in the diagnostics and repair of refrigeration unit systems and subsystemsDemonstrated proficiency in the diagnostics and repair of hydraulic liftgatesAbility to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problemsDemonstrated ability and willingness to oversee and inspect the work of colleagues – including the ability to communicate required correctionsValid driver's license to operate applicable company vehiclesMust be able to walk extensivelyMust be able to stand for long periods of time usually for 8-10 hoursMust be able to lift 30-60 lbs. repetitively and heavier items weighing up to 100 lbs. occasionally and frequently push or pull three hundred (300) pounds.Must be capable of working AutonomouslyMust be capable of working in a mobile fashion to support transportation operationsMust be willing to work nights, weekends, and shiftsMust be willing to acquire / provide own toolsMust be willing to be on
