Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern. 10 to12 weeks, full-time work experience. It provides students with an opportunity to apply their developing knowledge and skills in health services administration/management, research, or, policy. Students gain a better appreciation for the pressures that affect decision-making in todays healthcare environment and are able to identify additional skills they will need to better prepare them for a rewarding career in health care administration. Job Responsibilities Assist with providing constructive feedback, and developing training tools and policy and procedures. Ensure cash optimization and accounts receivable reduction activity is functioning to fullest capability. Reports any discrepancies or inconsistencies in data and/or reports to management timely. Adhere to compliance and departmental policies and procedures including compliance with 100% of HIPAA requirements, required. Work independently, take initiative, and think critically. Work collaboratively with a variety of departments within NYULMC and NYULMC's contracted payers. Evaluate and elevate eligibility, authorization, billing, and claims processing inaccuracies to implement upstream solutions. Maintain data integrity when manipulating data files for purposes of analysis to ensure data does not become corrupted through conscientious use of tools and a system of checks and balances. Execute data mining and in-depth accounts receivable analysis. Collect/analyze data to determine areas for operational improvement throughout the revenue cycle.
