Control System Engineer Specialist

Responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting hardware and software for beamline control, data acquisition, and data analysis for synchrotron light source beamlines. Leverage an advanced control software framework to modernize control systems, streamline data workflows, and ensure flexible integration with emerging scientific instruments. Utilize knowledge and experience with software development in C and C++ under Linux-based operating systems, and work with common Linux command shells. Responsible for software development in high-level languages such as Python. Use collaborative software control technology such as Git. Analyze, problem solve, and troubleshoot at the interface between hardware and software and in operating electronic diagnostics equipment. Utilize digital and analog electronics with an emphasis on robotics. Responsible for embedded controller development. Use ROS/EPICS and other advanced distributed control middleware platforms supporting the development of scalable robotics and industrial automation systems. Translate scientific requirements from clients into technical solutions and documentation. Use AI/ML technologies for process automation and adaptive control. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field (foreign degree accepted). At least six (6) months of experience as an Embedded Software Engineer, Programmer, Robotics/Software Engineering Consultant, Software Engineer, or related occupation. Proficiency with C, C++, Linux, Python, Git, embedded controller development, and process automation. Experience with ROS/EPICS and distributed control middleware platforms, robotics, industrial automation, and adaptive control. Experience with AI/ML technologies for process automation is a plus. Location and Salary Location: 9700 S. Cass Avenue, Lemont, IL 60439. Salary: $107,220.06 – $157,477.00 per year with standard benefits.
