Occupational Therapist Outpatient PRN

Occupational Therapist – Outpatient Your job is more than a job. As an Occupational Therapist, your typical day goes beyond routine, helping patients achieve independence following brain injury, physical trauma, or stroke. Schedule 24 hours per week minimum, including Wednesdays. Primarily outpatient, with occasional rotation. Responsibilities Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate occupational therapy services for patients. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, physicians, nurses, and other therapists to ensure excellent outcomes. Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone. Monitor and engage with patients, families, and care team regarding significant events, changes in patient condition, and concerns. Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communication, and an exceptional patient experience. Advise and consult with the supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely. Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and teach occupational therapy skills and techniques to facilitate functional abilities during hospitalization and at home. Implement, evaluate, and interpret assessment findings; set goals; demonstrate effective utilization of staff resources and patient input. Develop treatment plans appropriate for diagnoses and implement them with necessary modifications, continually reassessing progress and revising goals. Use approved terminology, forms, and accurately document charges according to services provided. Document treatment plans, including measurable short‑term goals for patient progress. Participate in assigned PI committee activities and share information with OT staff. Contribute to the team by assisting others when needed, without being asked. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Current Occupational Therapy license in the State of Louisiana through the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME). Current American Heart Association BLS certification. Strong empathy, compassion, and communication skills; ability to inspire and motivate patients on their rehabilitative journey.
