Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse (RN) Schenectady, New York. The position provides nursing care in an acute care Labor and Delivery setting, including patient assessment, care planning, delivery, evaluation, communication with the healthcare team, and patient teaching. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour nights (7:00 p.m. 7:00 a.m.); minimum 36.0 hours per week.
• Start Date: 07/13/2026
• Float: Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Required Qualifications: New York (NY) RN license or eligibility for limited permit to practice (required at time of submission); Graduate of an accredited RN program (required); BSN and board certification (preferred); Basic Life Support (BLS) required prior to start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within six months; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within six months; Intermittent Fetal Monitoring required by six months employment and/or Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM) certification by one year employment; Minimum of 2 years of specialty experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: BSN; board certification.
• Additional Information: Assignment for 8 weeks; no block scheduling will be approved.
• Responsibilities: Completes patient assessment using subjective and objective data sources; evaluates assessment data and establishes nursing diagnoses; prioritizes patient needs and selects diagnoses that can be addressed in the acute care episode; develops and delivers an individualized plan of care (PCP) with measurable outcomes and timeframes; assigns patient care tasks to and observes care provided by non-RN staff; evaluates patient care and assesses timeliness and level of outcome achievement with input from the healthcare team, including patient/family; communicates the patients plan of care to all healthcare team members and organizes/communicates nursing care assignments based on patient acuity/need and staff education/skill/job description; assesses teaching needs as part of initial and ongoing assessment, sets teaching goals, and develops teaching plans aligned with educational level, learning readiness, and age; collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to implement and/or coordinate the teaching plan focused on wellness, health maintenance, and restoration; provides a safe environment based on patient condition and age; assumes responsibility for education and self-development; participates in nursing performance improvement and interdisciplinary research/study activities as required; adheres to institutional policies and procedures.
