Finance Associate | San Mateo, CA A privately owned boutique investment firm with over $25 billion in assets under management is seeking a Financial Associate to join their team. This role will support the firm's financial, legal, HR, and compliance functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, compensation and benefits, accounting and tax, policies and procedures, and compliance oversight. The Financial Associate will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure processes and operations run efficiently. Responsibilities:
Work with vendors on AP processes, ensuring timely and accurate documentation, payments, and journal entries
Approve invoices and expense reimbursements, and process payments
Coordinate with internal/external parties on AR processes, ensuring timely and accurate receipts and journal entries
Work with payroll vendors to ensure accurate payroll inputs and perform annual payroll reconciliations
Partner with benefit vendors to administer employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, HSA, 401(k), voluntary, stock, and defined benefit plans
Prepare compensation statements, assist with insurance and benefits renewals, and support filings and audits
Administer employee onboarding and offboarding, including background checks, and maintain employee handbook and other policies and procedures
Review monthly accounting packages, budgets, and forecasts prepared by the accounting team for accuracy, making journal entries as needed
Assist with corporate audits and tax return preparation, including preparing PBC information for external tax and audit firms and reviewing draft tax returns and financials. Ensure timely completion of tax and other filings
Support internal financial reporting and analysis as needed
Assist in evaluating and transitioning vendors, such as payroll providers, banking relationships, corporate credit cards, compliance applications, and other consultants or vendors
Contribute to developing, monitoring, and assessing accounting operations, internal controls, and company policies; offer recommendations for improvements and implement new requirements and processes
Support accounting, financial, tax, HR, and regulatory compliance, including Code of Ethics, compliance program, client reporting, soft dollars, regulatory filings, investment guidelines review, and GIPS verification *About 75% of time will focus on financial and HR tasks, with 25% on compliance and legal Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
3+ years of experience in accounting, operations, finance, administration, or a related role within the financial services industry
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software is preferred The compensation for this role includes a base salary of $90,000-$150,000, a discretionary annual bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. The actual salary within this range will be based on factors such as experience, credentials, and other relevant qualifications, with some flexibility for exceptional candidates.
