Certified Public Accountant / CPA Candidate / Enrolled Agent - Tax ProfessionalWe are seeking a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), CPA Candidate, or Enrolled Agent (EA) to join a small, collaborative accounting and tax team. This position offers a flexible work environment designed to support work-life balance, professional development, and long-term career growth.The role is primarily in-office in West Point, Iowa, with potential for some remote work based on experience, performance, and business needs. The position provides an opportunity to work directly with a diverse client base while supporting individual and business tax preparation, tax review, bookkeeping, and client service.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare individual, business, non-profit, and estate/trust income tax returns.Assist with tax return review and quality control.Perform bookkeeping services for select clients.Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients through phone, email, text, web-based communication, and in-person meetings.Gather and organize tax documentation from clients.Distribute completed tax returns, client copies, and related records.Provide support and assistance to other members of the accounting and tax team as needed.Assist with general tax and accounting projects throughout the year.Work additional hours during tax season, as needed, potentially up to 70 hours per week during peak periods.QualificationsCPA, CPA Candidate, or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential.Must have or be able to obtain a PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number).Ability to successfully pass a background check.Minimum 2 years of experience preparing Form 1040 individual income tax returns.Experience with Form 1065 and Form 1120S is preferred.Experience with QuickBooks and/or payroll reporting is a plus.Experience with Drake Tax software is a plus.Experience working in a paperless accounting/tax environment is preferred.Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a small team.Strong commitment to client service and confidentiality.Work SchedulePrimarily in-office in West Point, Iowa.Some remote work may be available depending on the position and business needs.Flexible hours and scheduling options may be available.Additional hours are expected during the busy tax season.BenefitsHealth and dental insurance benefits available.SIMPLE IRA with employer matching on up to 3% of wages.8 paid holidays per year.2 weeks of PTO, beginning to accrue upon date of hire.Flexible work environment focused on work-life balance.Opportunities for professional growth and development.
