A healthcare system in East Texas is seeking a Cardiovascular Surgeon for ongoing locum call coverage across multiple facilities in Lufkin, Texas.
Compensation:
Orientation: $215 per hour of orientation or training beyond 8 hours
On Call (Daily): $3895 per 24 hours to include 4 hours gratis
24 Hour Holiday Call Rate: $5840 per 24 hours to include 4 hours gratis
Call Back: $430 per hour of patient contact hours
Holiday Call Back: $640 per holiday hour of patient contact hours

Specialty: Cardiovascular Surgery
Practice Setting: Primarily inpatient surgical coverage for ED and referred elective cases
Coverage Type: 24-hour call coverage

Assignment Length: Ongoing
Coverage Dates
June 26 (7:00 AM) July 6 (7:00 AM)
Additional ongoing coverage available based on permanent physician schedule
Schedule
24-hour call shifts
Shift hours: 7:00 AM 7:00 AM
Full-time coverage need
Open to multiple surgeons sharing the schedule
Clinical Responsibilities
Full-scope Cardiovascular Surgery coverage
Cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures required
Coverage for emergency and elective surgical cases
Hospital rounding and inpatient surgical management
Required Procedures
Full-scope Cardiovascular Surgery
Cardiac and thoracic surgery procedures
Vein harvesting capability preferred
Surgeon should be comfortable harvesting own veins if needed
Facility & Systems
Multiple hospital and clinic locations in Lufkin, Texas
Clinic EMR: Cerner McKesson Cardiology
Hospital EMR: Paragon and CHS proprietary EMR
Patient Volume
Approximately patients per day
Program volume approximately 100 heart surgeries annually
Support & Resources
Typical hospital and clinic support resources available
PA support may be available depending on surgical volume
Requirements
Board Certified highly preferred, or truly Board Eligible
Active Texas license required
IMLC with active LOQ accepted
Cardiovascular or Cardiothoracic Surgery fellowship required
BLS and ACLS highly preferred
Clean malpractice history required
Providers with settled malpractice cases may be considered on case-by-case basis
Self-query NPDB required within 30 days of presentation
Additional Information
Temporary privileges available and expedited credentialing possible
Provider must have clean malpractice history for temp privileges
Medicare and Medicaid enrollment may eventually be required due to assignment length
Travel accommodations should remain within current GSA guidelines
Facility prefers lodging close to the hospital locations
