Description: COVID vaccine is required. Unit details include 11 labor and delivery beds and 32 postpartum beds. The unit follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios. Common diagnoses include pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, and substance abuse disorders. Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips including magnesium. Charge nurses and house supervisors are present on the unit. There are Certified Nursing Assistants available. An OB/Gyn and a Neonatologist are in-house 24/7. Advanced practice providers are also available continuously. Respiratory therapy equipment such as vents and CPAP is available for the NICU. Continuous monitoring does not include telemonitoring. The Electronic Fetal Monitoring System used is Centricity Perinatal. Weekend and holiday commitments are required. There may be a call or standby requirement due to low census. Floating to labor and delivery for normal newborn transitions is expected. Scrubs are required and can be hospital-issued or personal. Department-specific orientation is provided. The hospital may cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting is done using the EPIC system.
