Generator Technician
We are recruiting a high-level Generator Technician in Los Angeles, CA for a well-established power generation company in the entertainment industry. This is a predominantly shop-based role focusing on mobile generators. The job duties include electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, automatic transfer switches, paralleling and switchgear. Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical, mechanical, electronic, and digital control system issues on a wide variety of mobile generator units.
- Remove, repair, and replace major components, including starters, alternators, digital controllers, and fuel system elements.
- Set up, configure, and test generator paralleling systems to ensure seamless multi-unit synchronization and load sharing.
- Troubleshoot, program, and repair automatic transfer switches (ATS) and integrated mobile switchgear configurations.
- Perform comprehensive load-bank testing and rigorous quality checks on all mobile assets before deployment back into the field.
- Accurately document all diagnostic findings, parts used, and repair actions within the shop's maintenance tracking system.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of generator experience preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical and mechanical systems
- Ability to travel overnight ~once/quarter
- Ability to be on call required
