Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 18 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required; Level I Trauma preferred. License: New Mexico (pending accepted) Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC (TNCC must be obtained prior to submission) Must-Have: - 2 years of experience; travelers with 1.5 years may be considered if they have Level I Trauma experience. - Mandatory to work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, New Year's Eve & New Year's Day. - No local candidates within 100 miles. - COVID-19 vaccination is optional, though reporting is required. - First-time travelers accepted, but prior travel experience is preferred. Description: Travelers should expect assignments to include primarily admitted patients. Approximately 60%-80% of the Emergency Department consists of admitted patients. Many Emergency Department rooms are used for holding admitted patients. Medication administration includes IV medication via the seven medication rights. Documentation and communication of clinical findings are required. Travelers will be scheduled for weekends as needed. Weekend days constitute Saturday and Sunday; weekend nights are considered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Floating to Pediatric Emergency Department is optional. Floating to Adult Patient Care Units is an expectation based on staffing needs. Potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma may occur. Unit details include an average daily census of 170-200, with 53 rooms and 68 beds. Interdisciplinary support is available from various services including respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services. Patient demographics include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Trauma and resuscitation experience are preferred. Bar code medication scanning is an expectation for all employees. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in various emergency nursing skills. Travelers are encouraged to complete compliance requirements promptly. This position requires a commitment to patient care and teamwork within a fast-paced environment.
