Sr. Scrum Master

Capstone IT is helping our client find a Scrum Master who will lead Agile adoption efforts across IT teams as the organization transitions from a traditional waterfall delivery model to Agile methodologies. This person will facilitate Scrum ceremonies, coach teams and stakeholders on Agile best practices, remove delivery obstacles, and help teams improve collaboration, transparency, and delivery speed. The role will work closely with Product Owners, Business Systems Analysts (BSAs), developers, and leadership to drive successful Agile transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
• Coach team members, Product Owners, BSAs, and stakeholders on Agile principles and Scrum practices.
• Guide teams transitioning from waterfall to Agile methodologies.
• Identify and remove blockers impacting team productivity and delivery.
• Support backlog refinement, prioritization, user story development, and acceptance criteria creation.
• Foster team ownership, accountability, and self-organization.
• Track sprint progress, team velocity, and delivery metrics using Jira and Confluence.
• Facilitate communication between development teams, business stakeholders, and leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across Agile teams.
• Manage multiple Scrum lanes supporting BSA teams.

Qualifications:

Required:

• 5+ years of Scrum Master or Agile Coach experience in IT or software development environments.
• Experience leading Scrum ceremonies and Agile delivery teams.
• Experience managing multiple Scrum teams or workstreams simultaneously.
• Strong Jira and Confluence experience.
• Experience transitioning teams from waterfall to Agile methodologies.
• Ability to coach individuals and teams with limited Agile experience.
• Understanding of IT project lifecycles.

Nice to Have:

• Certified Scrum Master (CSM).
• Retail industry project experience.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to cloud environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Role Context:

This organization is actively transforming its IT delivery model from waterfall-based project management to Agile delivery practices. The Scrum Master is not simply facilitating ceremonies but serving as a key change agent responsible for helping teams adopt Agile mindsets and behaviors.

Success in this role will depend on coaching stakeholders unfamiliar with Agile, improving collaboration between business and technical teams, and creating consistency across multiple Scrum lanes. The Scrum Master will play a visible role in driving organizational change while helping teams improve delivery speed, transparency, and overall project outcomes.
