Maintenance Technician

This role focuses on performing mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment throughout a manufacturing plant. The maintenance technician ensures equipment reliability by executing preventive maintenance, diagnosing issues quickly, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install plant equipment in compliance with all plant policies and procedures.
• Work with machinery and mechanical equipment including motors, pneumatic and hydraulic components, conveyor systems, and production line equipment.
• Read and interpret diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications to support accurate installation and repair.
• Use hand tools, power tools, precision-measuring devices, and testing instruments to perform maintenance and repair tasks.
• Maintain all company assets at the highest level of availability by executing the preventive maintenance (PM) schedule.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot root causes of equipment issues in a professional and timely manner.
• Collaborate with operators on process improvements and train operators on routine preventive maintenance tasks.
• Support engineering and continuous improvement projects, including equipment trials and new installations.
• Perform daily electrical troubleshooting and repair on production equipment.
• Perform daily mechanical troubleshooting and repair, including work on motors, drives, and mechanical assemblies.
• Repair hydraulic components and systems as a core part of daily responsibilities.
• Perform preventive maintenance activities and record work using manual work order tracking.
• Conduct basic PLC troubleshooting to assist in identifying and resolving control-related issues.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the maintenance department and in work areas after completing jobs.
• Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures at all times.
• Complete all other duties as assigned by leadership to support maintenance and plant operations.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical skills with experience working on hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair.
• Electrical abilities with the capability to perform electrical troubleshooting on industrial equipment.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Hands-on experience working with motors, including 3-phase motors, and related electrical components.
• Proficiency in preventive maintenance practices for production and plant equipment.
• Basic PLC troubleshooting skills to support equipment diagnostics.
• Experience working with pneumatic systems and components.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools such as megger meters, multi-meters, amp probes, and infrared thermometers.
• Skill in using hand tools, power tools, precision-measuring devices, and testing instruments.
• Capability to perform maintenance repair tasks on a variety of equipment, including mechanical assemblies.
• Understanding of welding and HVAC maintenance sufficient to support general maintenance activities, where applicable.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Commitment to following safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment with multiple presses and forming equipment.
• Familiarity with conveyor systems and production line equipment.
• Comfort reading and working from manufacturer's specifications and operation manuals.
• Exposure to continuous improvement and engineering projects, including equipment trials and installations.
• Ability to train operators on routine preventive maintenance and collaborate on process improvements.
• Strong organizational skills to manage manual work order tracking and documentation.
• Willingness to work across different shifts as needed, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift schedules.
• Desire for professional growth, including potential advancement into supervisory opportunities.

Work Environment

The role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility that operates 16 press machines, 2 cutting machines, and 2 forming machines. The plant is well lit and designed to support safe and efficient operations. Due to the number of presses running, the environment can become warm at times, especially during peak production. Maintenance work involves being on the plant floor around operating machinery and using a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment. Multiple shifts are available, with typical schedules including 1st shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.), and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.), providing flexibility for different work preferences. The role requires adherence to all plant safety practices and use of appropriate personal protective equipment as needed for the tasks being performed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Flowery Branch, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
