Required Experience

• Recent Histology Laboratory experience required
• High-volume Histology Lab experience preferred
• Experience maintaining specimen and case integrity
• Experience troubleshooting difficult tissue blocks
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while following laboratory protocols

Required Certifications

• ASCP Certified Histotechnician (HT) OR
• ASCP Certified Histotechnologist (HTL)
• Illinois License or proof of application process initiated

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination
• Perform microtomy, embedding, sectioning, and re-cuts
• Conduct special stains, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence procedures
• Assist with frozen section preparation and surgical pathology workflows
• Maintain specimen identification accuracy and case integrity
• Troubleshoot difficult tissue blocks and technical issues
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment
• Follow CLIA, CAP, and laboratory quality assurance standards
• Document laboratory procedures and results in Epic Beaker
• Work collaboratively with pathologists, laboratory staff, and healthcare teams
