This role is responsible for supporting and improving the site's electrical power distribution and utility infrastructure. The successful candidate will provide engineering support for:

• Medium- and low-voltage electrical power distribution systems

• Site electrical utilities and power infrastructure

• Incoming utility power, substations, transformers, and distribution systems

• Electrical system maintenance, reliability, and asset lifecycle management

• Electrical metering and power monitoring systems

• Obsolescence planning and long-range infrastructure upgrades

• Capital projects supporting site expansion and electrical reliability

• Sustainability and net-zero energy initiatives

• Electrical one-line diagrams, system studies, and future infrastructure planning

This position is focused on electrical power distribution and utility infrastructure and is not primarily a PLC programming, automation controls, instrumentation, or process control engineering role.

What You Will Achieve

• Oversee maintenance and reliability engineering activities for site electrical utility and power distribution systems, including the design, upkeep, modification, repair, lifecycle planning, and reliability improvement of electrical infrastructure and associated utility equipment.

• Provide technical engineering oversight for project execution plans and conduct engineering studies supporting equipment installation, modification, and replacement.

• Develop detailed and robust engineering designs to support capital investments, expansion, and long-term reliability of site electrical infrastructure, including incoming utility power, substations, transformers, medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, electrical metering systems, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) turbines, emergency diesel generators, UPS systems, and associated electrical equipment.

• Review electrical construction specifications, drawings, and design packages for new construction and renovation projects.

• Collaborate with contractors, architects, and consulting engineers to optimize cost, performance, and reliability of utility and building systems.

• Lead or co-lead engineering projects and manage project execution from planning through completion.

• Provide cross-functional leadership in project management, prioritization, forecasting, and resource allocation for maintenance and engineering activities.

• Coordinate with utility providers to support service reliability, capacity planning, and infrastructure upgrades.

• Support electrical safety programs including arc flash studies, protection coordination reviews, and compliance with NFPA 70E requirements.

• Evaluate electrical system capacity, load growth, and future infrastructure needs to support long-term site expansion and operational objectives.

• Develop scopes of work, project execution strategies, and support engineering studies.

• Manage personal and departmental workloads to achieve project objectives and agreed-upon timelines.

• Plan and coordinate short-term engineering and maintenance activities to ensure efficient execution.

• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, operational performance, and maintenance effectiveness.

• Support implementation of preventive maintenance strategies, processes, and procedures that improve equipment performance and asset reliability.

• Develop and execute electrical asset lifecycle and obsolescence management strategies to ensure long-term reliability, maintainability, and future site readiness.

• Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations and update equipment reliability plans based on findings.

• Provide technical support for equipment and process improvement initiatives utilizing sound engineering principles and structured problem-solving methodologies.

• Utilize broad engineering knowledge and experience to develop innovative solutions and improve products, processes, and services.

• Support future site infrastructure planning and sustainability initiatives, including projects that contribute to energy efficiency, electrical reliability improvements, and net-zero objectives.

• Provide technical support for field and customer activities, including:

Data collection and analysis

Electrical one-line diagram updates and revisions

Electrical system performance assessments

Offer engineering guidance to operations and maintenance teams to support reliable system performance and informed decision-making.

• Ensure compliance with SOPs, cGMP requirements, quality standards, OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Maintain calibration and maintenance activities in accordance with GxP requirements, current technologies, and industry best practices.

• Promote safe system design and operational practices through proactive safety assessments and adherence to site safety procedures.

• Foster a strong safety culture across engineering, maintenance, and operational teams.

• Apply engineering discipline knowledge and technical expertise to contribute effectively to departmental objectives.

• Independently resolve moderately complex technical and operational issues while navigating ambiguity and competing priorities.

• Exercise sound judgment and professional discretion to develop practical and innovative solutions.

• Review personal work for accuracy and quality while seeking guidance when appropriate.

• Mentor and support colleagues through technical coaching, work reviews, and knowledge sharing.

• Actively participate in site and corporate initiatives, including:

Communities of Practice (CoPs)

Limited Duration Teams (LDTs)

Cross-functional improvement and strategic initiatives

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)

• Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of experience; OR a master's degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR a PhD with 0+ years of experience; OR as associate's degree with 8 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience.

• Experience in Electrical, Plant Utility systems design and layout for: Electrical, Standby, Emergency and UPS Power Systems, System Grounding and Lightning Protection and Low Voltage Distribution Systems.

• Experience with underground electric distribution and medium-voltage substations

• Experience in master planning, design, installation, and operation of central utility systems

• Experience in Electrical Power Studies, Voltage Drop, Over Current Device Coordination Studies, Arc Flash Hazard knowledge.

• Experience and understanding of all applicable electrical and energy codes, i.e. NFPA70E, NEC, NEMA, IEEE, UL, LEED, etc.

• Candidate must be able to work as a team across functional areas such as operations, maintenance.

• Good communication skills, verbal and written, are required.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to frequently walk up and down stairs, ladders, etc. on an on-going basis, in an industrial plant and/or construction site setting. Must be able to utilize ladders, scaffolds, high-lifts, and enter/work in confined spaces. Required to wear personal protective equipment where necessary

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,200.00 to $165,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
