Planner/Buyer II

The Planner/Buyer II role supports our mission to provide safe, clean water worldwide by managing procurement for raw materials and components needed by production and customers. Responsibilities Manage procurement activities for assigned materials, products, and services using a Kanban pull‑based replenishment system. Implement and continuously improve Kanban principles, including signal sizing, reorder points, lead‑time considerations, and demand variability. Execute day‑to‑day Kanban replenishment by monitoring consumption, supplier performance, and inventory levels to prevent shortages, excess inventory, or production downtime. Use external planning and tracking tools to supplement system limitations and ensure purchase orders are released accurately and on time. Track demand trends, Kanban signals, supplier on‑time delivery, quality issues, and material constraints using spreadsheets and data analysis. Prepare, issue, and maintain purchase orders, ensuring pricing, quantities, and delivery dates align with Kanban requirements. Collaborate with suppliers to resolve missed signals, delivery issues, quantity variances, and packaging or flow concerns. Assist production and materials teams with part shortages or material flow disruptions to support on‑time customer shipments. Resolve material, receipt, pricing, and invoicing discrepancies with cross‑functional teams and track root causes and corrective actions. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy, material flow, and supplier responsiveness. Maintain accurate documentation of Kanban parts, supplier parameters, and replenishment rules. Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers through regular verbal and written communication. Support new or less experienced buyers and planners in Kanban execution and issue resolution. Assist with additional duties and projects assigned by the Purchasing Manager. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 4+ years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Materials Management within a lean manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices. Successful establishment of employment eligibility and completion of background checks, drug screening, and required pre‑employment testing. Preferred Qualifications CPM or APICS certification preferred but not required. Working Conditions On‑site in Blauvelt, NY at a manufacturing facility with primary duties performed in an office environment. May be required to work on the manufacturing floor and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Monday–Friday hours to be communicated by manager. Physical Requirements Remain seated at a desk for extended periods. Perform repetitive typing and mouse use. Move around the office, organize or transport light items. Read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry. Communicate clearly in meetings or phone calls. Operate standard office equipment. Occasionally lift and carry light objects.
