MEP Mechanical Engineer – Mission Critical & Data Centers Location: Manhattan, New York City Experience: 6–15 Years Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent The Role We are seeking a talented and driven MEP Mechanical Engineer with a passion for mission critical design to join our growing Manhattan team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile, technically complex data center and mission critical projects in one of the most active markets in the country. You will work closely with senior engineers, architects and commissioning specialists across the full project lifecycle — from concept and master planning through to construction administration — on projects spanning enterprise, co-location, hyperscale and financial sector data centers. Key Responsibilities Lead and contribute to the mechanical design of mission critical facilities including data centers, trading floors, financial institution infrastructure and co-location facilities Develop and manage mechanical design packages including HVAC systems, chilled water plants, cooling infrastructure, plumbing and fire protection Produce and review engineering calculations, equipment selections, specifications and construction documents Coordinate with architectural, electrical and structural disciplines to ensure fully integrated and clash-free designs Support BIM/Revit modelling and coordination throughout the design process Conduct site visits, field surveys and construction administration activities Engage directly with clients, contractors and vendors as a trusted technical point of contact Mentor and support junior engineers within the team Contribute to the development of prototype designs, reference packages and scalable deployment solutions for campus-scale programmes Requirements 6–15 years of MEP mechanical engineering experience, with a strong focus on mission critical, data center or similar high-reliability facilities Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (required); Master's degree a plus PE license (required or actively in progress — we will support completion) Proficiency in Revit/BIM and industry-standard mechanical engineering software Strong understanding of data center mechanical systems including CRAC/CRAH units, raised floor and overhead cooling, chilled water systems, redundant power/cooling topologies (N, N+1, 2N) and Tier classification Experience with ASHRAE standards, NYC/NYS Building Codes and energy compliance requirements (familiarity with Local Law 97 a plus) Excellent communication and project coordination skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment What We Offer The opportunity to work on landmark mission critical projects for some of the world's leading financial institutions, hyperscale operators and co-location providers A collaborative, technically driven culture with a 30+ year track record of excellence Clear career progression from Engineer to Senior Engineer, Associate, Associate Principal and Principal Competitive base salary commensurate with experience — market-leading for the NYC MEP design sector Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision and 401(k) PE licensure support and sponsorship of professional development and industry memberships Manhattan office location with a dynamic, senior team of mission critical specialists Interested?
