Forklift Operator (Stand-Up, Narrow Aisle Sit-Down & Order Picker)
Shift: 10:00 AM–6:30 PM shift for at least one week before transitioning them to the 1:00 PM–9:30 PM shift.
Job Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating multiple types of powered industrial trucks including stand-up forklifts, narrow aisle sit-down forklifts, and order pickers to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise within a warehouse or distribution center. The operator ensures efficient product handling while maintaining safety and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate stand-up forklifts, narrow aisle sit-down forklifts, and order picker equipment to transport materials throughout the warehouse.
- Pick and stage customer orders using an order picker at various rack heights.
- Load and unload trucks, pallets, and containers safely and efficiently.
- Move products to storage locations while maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Perform cycle counts and inventory checks when required.
- Follow warehouse management system (WMS) instructions using RF scanners or pick sheets.
- Inspect forklifts daily and complete pre-shift safety checks.
- Maintain clean aisles and organized storage locations.
- Follow OSHA safety regulations and company policies for powered industrial truck operation.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating stand-up forklift, narrow aisle sit-down forklift, and order picker preferred.
- Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Experience working in warehouse or distribution center environments.
- Ability to read pick lists, use RF scanners, and follow inventory systems.
- Strong attention to safety, accuracy, and productivity.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable working at heights when operating order pickers.
- Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods.
- Work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Work Environment
- Warehouse or distribution center setting.
- May include cold storage, narrow aisles, and high-rack storage systems.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
