Job Summary and Qualifications

Performs daily cleaning of patient rooms, discharge rooms, restrooms, non-patient rooms, and public areas using prescribed cleaning procedures and universal precautions.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Performs cleaning and sanitizing in assigned areas.
2. Employee follows work scheduled to complete all patient rooms daily.
3. Understands and performs prescribed cleaning procedures in each patient room and non-patient room.
4. Replenishes daily disposable supplies in restrooms.
5. Cleans-up all accidental spills or corrects cleaning problems as they occur.
6. Performs discharge cleaning procedures within a 15 minute period following patient discharge, and notifies unit clerk.
7. Maintains public areas using proper cleaning procedures.
8. Keeps housekeeping closet clean during the shift and left in a clean, orderly condition at the end of the shift.

Responds to special clean up request with staff in work areas.

• Responds within 15 minutes to all special clean-up requests
• Refers all patient/visitor concerns immediately to Charge Nurse or Supervisor.

Assists in fire, disaster and safety procedures.

• Responds immediately and calmly to all fire or disaster notifications in work area.
• Performs duties in safe manner and reports unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor immediately.

Practices Universal Precautions.

• Washes hands before leaving work area and before returning.
• Uses special precautions in isolation areas.

Maintains and uses all equipment in a clean, safe and serviceable condition.

• Inspects all equipment for cleanliness and serviceability prior to and after use to assure optimal condition of repair.
• Directs all safety or repair needs immediately to Supervisor.
• Clean and stores all equipment in a proper place while not in use and at the end of regular shift.

Performs all duties related to Teletracking's BedTracking XT.

• Logs into BedTracking XT's phone system at the beginning of each shift.
• Enters pager number and zones and/or sections.
• Responds timely to message notifications in BedTracking XT.
• Updates job status in BedTracking XT
• Signs out of BedTracking XT at the conclusion of each shift.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Preferred: High school diploma or GED and 6 month job related experience.
