About The EVThing

The EVThing is a one-of-a-kind roadside restaurant with a personality all its own. Our menu features scratch-made favorites, house-smoked barbecue, smashburgers, wings, tacos and homemade ultra-premium gelato, complemented by local craft beer and wine.

With our vintage Mercury convertible, Tesla EV chargers, early-evening weekend live music from 6-9 p.m. and special weekend menus, The EVThing brings together classic roadside style and a modern guest experience.

We’re seeking an experienced, hands-on Restaurant General Manager who can build and develop a strong team, deliver memorable guest experiences, grow sales and lead successful day-to-day restaurant operations.

The Position

This is an active, working General Manager position—not a primarily administrative or office-based role. The GM must be comfortable leading both front- and back-of-house operations and stepping into food preparation, cooking, order taking, guest service or other positions when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on front- and back-of-house restaurant operations

• Recruit, schedule, train, coach and develop the team

• Maintain high standards for food quality, guest service, cleanliness and food safety

• Manage labor, food costs, inventory, purchasing and unit-level financial results

• Grow sales, support special events and communicate regularly with ownership

Required Experience

• At least two years as the fully responsible General Manager of a restaurant

• Strong working knowledge of front- and back-of-house restaurant operations

• Direct responsibility for staffing, scheduling, training and daily operations

• Experience managing food costs, labor costs, inventory and purchasing

• Knowledge of food-safety and sanitation requirements

• Basic computer, POS, email and spreadsheet skills

• High school diploma or GED, reliable transportation and flexible availability

• Food Manager and TABC certifications, or the ability to obtain them
