Northwestern State University seeks qualified applicants for a part-time position of Human Resources Office Assistant Clerk working 29 hours a week in the Human Resources Department. Human Resources Office Assistant Clerk will perform routine clerical duties to support the various functions of the University Human Resources Department. Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Administrative training required.
  • Two years of administrative assistant experience preferred
Requirements - Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to type 60 words a minute.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a tme.
Job Concepts
  • Performs clerical duties including typing, filing, and completion of simple forms.
  • Operates office machines including copiers, scanners, phone and voicemail systems, personal computers, and other standard office equipment.
  • Answers phones, directs calls to appropriate individuals, and prepare messages.
  • Receives and distributes office mail; processes outgoing mail.
  • Prepares letters, memos, forms, and reports according to written or verbal instructions
  • Conducts 1-9 verification on new hires
  • Assist with employment verifications
  • Maintains filing systems either manually or electronically
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
