Description: The role involves caring for a wide variety of patients in the Adult Cardiac Operating Room. Common procedures include CABG, TAVI, and various heart failure treatments such as VAD, ECMO, artificial heart, and heart transplants. The Surgical Technologist will provide technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures. The technologist will assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations. Responsibilities include proper care and handling of instruments and facilitating room turnover between cases. Maintaining sterile technique, safe handling of sharps, and performance of surgical counts per hospital policy is essential. Demonstrated proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse is required.
