Senior Buyer

Job Description

We are partnering with a leading medical device and life sciences manufacturer to hire a Buyer to support a high-performing supply chain team. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role where you will own end-to-end purchasing activities and play a critical role in ensuring material availability for both production and new product development (NPI) .

You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, R&D, and supplier partners in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment where supply chain is central to business success.

• Own end-to-end purchase order execution across key commodities (machined parts, sheet metal, PCAs, electronics)
• Manage supplier performance, including expediting orders, reducing past-due lines, and improving on-time delivery
• Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to support sourcing decisions
• Partner with engineering and R&D to support production and new product introduction efforts
• Maintain accurate ERP data , including pricing, lead times, and supplier records
• Drive backlog reduction by identifying and resolving supply constraints
• Coordinate across internal teams and suppliers to manage priorities, delivery commitments, and escalations
• Support supplier onboarding and ensure compliance with procurement processes and quality standards
• Participate in cross-functional sourcing decisions , including make vs. buy analysis and NPI support
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain operations

• 7+ years of experience as a Buyer with full PO ownership
• Direct experience sourcing machined parts, sheet metal, PCAs, and/or electronics
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong ERP experience (IFS, SAP, Oracle, Epicor, etc.) managing POs, supplier data, and past-due lines
• Proven track record of supplier management, negotiations, and delivery performance improvement
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (medical device, life sciences, aerospace/defense)
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume, onsite environment
• Strong collaboration skills working cross-functionally with engineering and operations

• Experience in medical device or life sciences manufacturing
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 environments
• Experience with IFS ERP
• Exposure to NPI (New Product Introduction) and make vs. buy decisions
• Strong analytical skills for supplier performance and backlog reduction

• Location: Fully onsite in the 4S Ranch / Rancho Bernardo area (San Diego)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Contract: 6-month contract with strong potential for conversion
• Work within a stable, process-driven, ISO-certified manufacturing environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in San Diego,CA.
