Endoscopy Technician (PRN)

SUMMARY

Responsible for scrubbing and assisting the physician for all cases. After completion of each case, the technician will be on standby for sterile technician needs which includes the following aspects of sterile processing: decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization and sterile storage while adhering to department policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Identifies and follows manufacturer instructions to sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse, and disinfect instrumentation, flexible scopes, equipment. Adheres to proper handling of garbage, linen, and biohazardous materials. Facilitates room turnovers. Assemble and prepare instrumentation for sterilization. Consistently uses count sheets to correctly assemble, protect, wrap, containerize, and/or peel pack and label instrumentations. Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality. Selects appropriate sterilization methods and follows manufacturer recommendations. Properly documents and verifies sterilization loads and biological test to determine the efficacy of the sterilization process. Properly handles sterile products and ensures stock is placed in the proper location. Preparing carts from pick list. Delivers instrumentation as needed to the operating room. Consistently makes rounds through the operating rooms and confirms instrumentation needs are met. Troubleshoot problems and repairs. Review instrumentation needs management. Inventory and stock operating par levels for stored instrumentation and emergency carts. Work with specialty surgical instrumentation. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Provide guidance and training to other staff as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned to support the hospital.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of Medical Terminology. Strong knowledge of sterile technique related to operating room preparation and procedures. Proficiency in medical and surgical technology. Strong knowledge of operating equipment and supplies. Leadership Skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Formal training as Endoscopy Technician or One (1) year recent clinical experience as an Endoscopy Technician preferred in lieu of formal training. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified. #J-18808-Ljbffr Townsen Memorial Hospital
