Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing specialized patient care in a high-acuity environment, supporting critically ill children in a dynamic unit. The position offers a comprehensive orientation and requires adherence to unit protocols and safety standards.

Job Details:

• Location: Not specified (the organization)
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM 7:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; BLS (American Heart Association), PALS (American Heart Association); 1 year of pediatric ICU nursing experience; valid SSN last four digits; middle initial; requested time off; understanding of OSF policies including drug-free campus guidelines and call off policy
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with pediatric medical/surgical/neuro and cardiovascular patients; familiarity with bedside Phillips monitors and telemetry strips; ability to recognize rhythm changes and appropriate interventions; experience with ventilators (Vents, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, etc.) and tele/monitor techs; team-based care involving nurse aides/PCTs, intensivists, APPs, and residents
• Responsibilities include providing patient care for critically ill children, reading telemetry strips, collaborating with the healthcare team, and adhering to safety and clinical protocols. The unit operates 24/7 with in-house pediatrician, intensivist, advanced practice providers, and residents.
• Float requirements: Floating to PIC and lower levels of care by turn; full teams accepted when floating.
• Dress Code: Scrubs are provided; no restriction other than being friendly to children.
• Orientation: 3-4 days of 12-hour shifts
• Additional Notes: All patients are on bedside Phillips monitors; nurses are expected to recognize rhythm changes and understand associated interventions. The role involves weekend and holiday work based on schedule, with every other weekend requirement.
