About the Role

We are seeking a skilled AV Fleet Technician to support the operational readiness and maintenance of our Autonomous Vehicle (AV) data collection fleet. As the onsite technical expert at a regional depot, you will act as the "smart remote hands" for centralized Software and Hardware Engineering teams, performing diagnostics, hardware interventions, system validation, and sensor calibration to ensure vehicles are deployment-ready.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience in autonomous systems, robotics, advanced hardware troubleshooting, or complex electromechanical equipment who enjoy solving technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the onsite technical resource for remote engineering teams by performing vehicle-side diagnostics, hardware replacements, sensor swaps, and physical troubleshooting.
• Execute validation, testing, and firmware flashing procedures for autonomous vehicle sensor suites and compute platforms.
• Perform sensor calibration and alignment, including LiDAR, radar, cameras, GPS/IMU, and other perception systems, using documented procedures and software tools.
• Monitor system health through telemetry dashboards, Slack, Jira, and other internal tools, responding promptly to hardware faults and operational alerts.
• Install software packages, update firmware and drivers, and execute Linux command-line validation scripts to prepare vehicles for daily operations.
• Diagnose and isolate hardware, software, firmware, networking, and mechanical issues affecting vehicle performance.
• Support preventive maintenance activities to maximize fleet uptime and operational reliability.
• Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, calibration results, testing outcomes, and asset movements within inventory and ticketing systems.
• Collaborate closely with Hardware, Software, and Operations teams to resolve technical issues and continuously improve fleet reliability.
• Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting advanced hardware validation, enterprise hardware, robotics, automotive electronics, or complex electromechanical systems.
• Experience working with autonomous vehicle technologies or related systems, including LiDAR, radar, cameras, GPS/IMU, CAN Bus, or similar sensor platforms.
• Strong proficiency with Linux command-line tools for system diagnostics, log analysis, process management, and network troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret basic Bash and Python scripts.
• Proven troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, networking, firmware, and software domains.
• Experience with firmware flashing, software installation, and system validation.
• Familiarity with Jira, Slack, inventory management, and technical documentation.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with remote engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting autonomous vehicles, robotics, ADAS, or data collection fleets.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, FAKRA connectors, serial communications, and automotive networking.
• Familiarity with sensor calibration tools and autonomous perception systems.
• Experience using telemetry dashboards and remote diagnostic tools.
• Understanding of hardware integration and system validation methodologies.
