Assistant Football Coach/Offensive Coordinator

The Alfred University Assistant Football Coach/OffensiveCoordinator is responsible for assisting the head coach with theorganization and management of NCAA Division III football program. This includes teaching and coaching student-athletes for successfulcompetition; mentoring and engaging student-athletes' for academicsuccess and personal success; meeting or exceeding recruitinggoals; civic engagement; planning and managing budgets andschedules; fundraising; and developing positive alumni and parentrelations. Salary: $50,917.88-$53,849.68 Annually Responsibilities: Teaching and Coaching: Maintain an exemplary standard of conduct, which reflects thehighest level of professionalism and good judgment Provide a teaching and learning environment that is nurturing,intellectual and supportive of individual differences Assist in the development of strategies and techniques for allphases of the sport to best prepare the team for competitivesituations Assist in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation ofpractice and competition plans that are effective for the sport andcongruent with team/individual ability Assist in the development and implementation of a teamphilosophy that is supportive of the educational mission of theuniversity and the athletic department Direct student-athletes, part time assistant coaches, andsupport staff to conduct themselves in such ways that bring creditto the team and Alfred University Advising: Develop and maintain effective communication withstudent-athletes Set high standard of ethical and moral conduct Reinforce academic success as a priority Monitor academic progress through communication with the headcoach and compliance coordinator Encourage student-athletes to foster a positive relationshipwith their advisor, faculty, dean, and other areas of academicsupport Assist in monitoring eligibility of student-athletes Recruiting: Under the direction of the head coach implement a recruitingplan consistent with Alf University’s mission Cultivate a recruiting network Assist in maintaining the department's recruiting contactmanagement system Recruit student-athlestes that coincide with the academicprofile of Alfred University students Maintain open communication with other Alfred Universitycoaches regarding shared prospects Be knowledgeable about admissions and financial aidprocesses Assist the head coach in meeting recruiting goals Professional Development: Maintain active membership in professional sportorganizations Pursue formal and informal educational opportunities Participate in department professional developmentseminars Civic Engagement: Promote the sport in area communities Establish and maintain a positive relationship with interestedsegments of the community (e.g. youth groups, civic organizations,media) Program Management: Comply with institutional and departmental policies Be knowledgeable of and comply with all NCAA and Empire 8 rulesand regulations Supervise part time assistant coaching staff Work collaboratively with department staff Responsibly manage equipment, uniforms, and facilities Work collaboratively with Advancement staff to plan andimplement sport fundraising activities Maintain appropriate coach-athlete relationships Develop a positive relationship with alumni and parents ofcurrent, former, and prospective student-athletes Other duties as assigned which may include but are not limitedto: Teach physical education, fitness, and/or wellness classes Serve on a departmental operational team Assist with department initiatives Represent the department on campus committees Qualifications: Formal Education: Bachelor's degree is required, master's degree is preferredwith preference in education, health science, sport management, orrelated field. Experience: A minimum of four years as a collegiate footballstudent-athlete and/or assistant coach is required. Demonstratedsuccessful collegiate coaching, recruiting and retention offootball student-athletes, preferably at NCAA Division III, isrequired. Additional Knowledge/Skills: Proven organizational skills as well as a recognizablecommitment to student growth and academic achievement. An overallknowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is required. The successfulapplicant must be a person of integrity, high ethical standards,have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skillsand have a commitment to teamwork. Competence with technologyresources and a current U.S. driver’s license are vital to fulfilling the responsibilities of this position. The candidatemust be willing to work nights and weekends.
