Job summary

We are hiring a Software Tester (QAS2) to design and run testing for .NET and cloud-native applications . You will build test strategy, plans, cases, and documentation for new .NET work, support user acceptance testing, help with source control and deployment, and work with developers and business users to find defects before and after release.

You will use Azure DevOps for documentation, iterative delivery, task tracking, and test reporting. You should understand Agile, iterative, and traditional SDLC practices as they apply to testing.

Duties

• Design and perform system analysis; recommend application solutions; test and correct programs; assist IT staff with documentation
• Support user acceptance testing
• Perform software implementation tasks, including source control and deployment
• Help develop, implement, and monitor IT quality assurance standards and testing
• Help develop and document standards and criteria for programming and SDLC activities
• Develop software testing and automation procedures; perform analysis and design
• Read, write, extract, and report from compound files
• Work with business personnel to identify and document system software requirements
• Define problems and develop potential solutions
• Provide post-production support: routine maintenance, enhancements, and research for production errors
• Help identify alternate approaches, review software development methodologies, complete software security scans, and report vulnerabilities
• Assist with performance testing and benchmarking of application response times; analyze and report results
• Communicate and collaborate with peers and stakeholders; lead discussions on simple to moderate technical topics
• Summarize technical information in writing (database, infrastructure, application) for decision making
• Mentor peers and junior staff through conversation, observation, and documentation
• Use Azure DevOps for documentation, collaboration, task management, system testing, and reporting

Required qualifications

• 3+ years as a Software Tester for .NET and cloud-native applications
• Demonstrated experience independently developing testing strategy, test plans, test cases, and system testing documentation for a new .NET application
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps for test and delivery work
• Basic understanding of Agile, iterative, and traditional SDLC as it relates to testing
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work with technical and business staff

C# .NET, VB .NET, Visual Studio, JavaScript, HTML, JMeter, Oracle, MS-SQL, Microsoft Azure, Salesforce, Azure DevOps, JAMS, stored procedures, triggers, web development

Knowledge and skills

• Software development principles for design, development, testing, and implementation
• Common query languages and EDP concepts
• Troubleshooting, reading comprehension, and structured problem solving
• Customer support and service orientation
• Ability to gather information from multiple sources and draw valid conclusions
• Comfort working to state/agency policy, procedure, and applicable law (if this is a public-sector engagement)
