School Social Worker in Crystal Lake, IL

This contract opportunity is perfect for an experienced Social Worker passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children. You'll work in a day therapeutic program, supporting three dedicated classrooms-two focused on elementary students with emotional disabilities (ED) and one serving elementary students with autism.


Your workday will follow a consistent 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. schedule, with a half-hour lunch break to recharge. The assignment runs from ASAP through May 22, 2026, with the potential to renew for the following school year.


Qualifications and Experience:

• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program
• Valid state licensure/certification for school social work
• Previous experience in school or pediatric settings, especially with emotional disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, highly valued
• Strong communication skills for consultation with teachers, staff, and families
• Ability to collaborate effectively on child study teams and develop intervention plans
• Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide group and individual counseling for students in elementary ED and autism classrooms
• Support behavioral and emotional development through targeted interventions
• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families to design and implement IEPs and behavioral strategies
• Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings, contributing social-emotional expertise
• Offer crisis intervention and support when students experience heightened challenges
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes
