We work hard to produce seemingly impossible installations through thoughtful design, hands-on fabrication, and technology integration.Overview:The Shop Assistant is an entry-level, project-based role designed to support both our Facilities and Fabrication teams. This role is ideal for someone eager to develop hands-on experience in a creative fabrication environment, with opportunities to grow into more advanced roles over time.You'll help keep our shop running smoothly, assist with day-to-day logistics, and support a wide variety of internal and client-facing projects—from construction and installations to general shop maintenance.Position in Organization:Reports To: Production ManagerPrimary Responsibilities:Fabrication AssistanceAssist Fabricators / Installers as needed with hands-on work, prep, and clean-upMaintain a clean, safe, and organized workspaceFacilities SupportAssist with shop infrastructure projects, light construction, demolition, and general building maintenancePerform inventory checks and assist with tool check-out and returnSupport dump runs and materials recyclingProject Logistics SupportAct as a runner for pick-ups, drop-offs, and material sourcingHelp load and unload trucks for installationsTeam CollaborationCommunicate effectively with team leads to support changing project needsUphold safety protocols and contribute to a positive, solution-oriented environmentEssential Skills and Experience:Basic understanding of hand tools and power toolsSome experience or education in construction, fabrication, or a related fieldValid Class C Driver's License with a clean driving recordComfortable driving box trucks, forklifts, and other vehicles (training provided as needed)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to take direction and work independentlySmartphone with reliable access to calls, texts, and internal communication toolsAreas For Growth & Development:One Hat One Hand is committed to supporting your professional development.This role offers exposure to:Advanced fabrication techniques (wood, metal, CNC, finishes, etc.)Specialty tools and shop equipmentProject logistics and coordinationPathways to more specialized roles in Facilities or FabricationPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbsComfortable working in an indoor warehouse setting with moderate to high noise levelsOccasional outdoor work and travel to off-site installationsMust follow all shop safety protocols, including the use of PPE (eye, ear, skin, and respiratory protection)
