Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of industrial control panel projects. This position combines electrical engineering, automation, and project management responsibilities, requiring strong technical expertise in control systems, power distribution, PLC-based automation, and customer coordination. The successful candidate will manage projects from concept through commissioning while ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

• Design industrial control panels, and SCADA systems for municipal, water/wastewater, industrial, and commercial applications.
• Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bill of materials (BOMs) using AutoCAD.
• Size and select electrical components including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, power supplies, circuit protection devices, instrumentation, and networking equipment.
• Perform load calculations, short-circuit studies, and power distribution analysis as required.
• Ensure designs comply with NEC, UL 508A, NFPA 70, and applicable customer standards.
• Prepare design documentation, technical specifications, and submittal packages.
• Review and approve fabrication drawings and panel shop assembly documentation.

Project Management

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously from proposal award through final commissioning.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project success.
• Lead project kickoff meetings and provide regular progress updates.
• Track project costs and margins while identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
• Manage change orders, RFIs, and technical clarifications.
• Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.

Controls & Automation

• Support PLC and HMI programming activities using Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, Siemens, or similar platforms.
• Develop and review control narratives, I/O lists, and functional descriptions.
• Configure industrial communication networks including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, DNP3, and fiber optic systems.
• Perform FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), startup, and commissioning activities.

Client & Team Coordination

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned projects.
• Coordinate with field technicians and panel shop personnel during project execution.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
• Participate in customer meetings, site visits, and project planning sessions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial electrical design, automation, or control systems.
• Experience designing industrial control panels and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial networking systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or equivalent electrical design software.
• Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 70, and UL 508A requirements.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites as required.
