Location: Richardson, TX (Mostly remote, 1 day per month onsite is required)

Compensation: $150,000-$165,000 base + 20% annual bonus

Job Summary


We are seeking an experienced Director of Cloud Infrastructure to lead the strategy, governance, and execution of our cloud infrastructure organization. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing cloud operations, platform engineering, DevOps, infrastructure automation, and cloud reliability while developing a long-term roadmap that supports the company's growth and technology initiatives.


This is a people leadership position responsible for building, mentoring, and leading high-performing cloud engineering teams. The Director will partner closely with Software Engineering, Product, Security, and IT leadership to establish scalable cloud platforms, modern deployment practices, and operational excellence across the organization.


The environment is 100% cloud-based with no on-premises infrastructure . While Azure DevOps is currently utilized, we are not committed to any single technology stack. We are looking for a leader with strong cloud architecture and DevOps expertise who can guide technical direction, evaluate emerging technologies, and empower engineering teams to build modern infrastructure and deployment capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop multiple cloud infrastructure and platform engineering teams responsible for cloud operations, DevOps, automation, and platform reliability.
• Define and execute the organization's cloud infrastructure strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and software engineering priorities.
• Establish the vision and roadmap for infrastructure automation, CI/CD maturity, cloud governance, and platform modernization.
• Partner with Engineering leadership to improve software delivery, deployment reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Lead the organization's transition toward mature DevOps practices by establishing standards, governance, and best practices for deployment automation and infrastructure management.
• Guide the evaluation and selection of cloud technologies, DevOps tools, and automation platforms without being tied to a specific vendor or solution.
• Drive cloud reliability, availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies across all production environments.
• Establish operational metrics, KPIs, SLAs, and reporting to measure platform health, team performance, and service delivery.
• Collaborate with Security leadership to ensure cloud environments meet governance, compliance, and security requirements.
• Partner with Finance and executive leadership to manage cloud spend, budgeting, capacity planning, and vendor relationships.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, collaboration, and innovation across infrastructure teams.
• Mentor and develop engineering managers and technical leaders while building a scalable, high-performing cloud organization.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or infrastructure leadership.
• 5+ years of experience leading infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering organizations.
• Proven experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of public cloud platforms, with deep experience in Microsoft Azure.
• Experience developing cloud infrastructure strategies, governance models, and operational best practices.
• Experience leading organizations through CI/CD adoption, infrastructure automation, and cloud modernization initiatives.
• Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code, deployment automation, cloud networking, security, identity management, and observability.
• Experience collaborating with executive leadership and cross-functional technology teams.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading cloud-first organizations with little or no on-premises infrastructure.
• Experience scaling DevOps and platform engineering organizations.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, or comparable cloud technologies.
• Knowledge of cloud governance, FinOps, disaster recovery, and enterprise security frameworks.
• Azure, AWS, or cloud leadership certifications are a plus.
• Experience building cloud engineering organizations in rapidly growing technology environments.
