This role will partner closely with Engineering, Production, Network Engineering, Broadcast Distribution, external partners, and vendors to ensure reliable live-to-air operations while identifying, implementing, and maintaining emerging broadcast technologies.Why This Role Matters: This role plays a critical part in keeping Versant’s transmission infrastructure reliable, scalable, and ready for the future. By managing operational technology, vendor relationships, equipment upgrades, and proof-of-concept initiatives, this person helps ensure the continuity and quality of audio, video, and data delivery across a fast-moving media environment.This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the New Jersey office a minimum of three days per week.What You'll DoPartner with Engineering teams to ensure transmission and acquisition equipment is operational, maintained, and upgraded through coordinated maintenance windows.Procure, implement, and manage existing and emerging broadcast technologies, tools, and solutions that support live transmission operations.Lead proofs of concept for new tools and technologies, evaluating operational value, scalability, security requirements, and implementation needs.Collaborate with Production, Network Engineering, and Broadcast Distribution teams on current and future streaming video initiatives.Own vendor relationships, including equipment procurement, vendor onboarding, security review coordination, and service performance management.Conduct periodic reviews of telecom and vendor invoices, contracts, and SLAs to identify service improvements and cost-saving opportunities.QualificationsWhat You Bring5–7 years of proven experience in a live-to-air television operations environment, such as TOC or NOC, with responsibility for audio, video, data quality, and service continuity.Hands-on expertise operating and configuring transmission facility hardware, including LiveU, satellite receivers, antennas, IP/ASI encoders and decoders, and IP and SDI video plant routers.Strong understanding of operational technology for a 24/7 television or broadcast facility.Effective presentation skills, with the ability to communicate project plans, budgets, procedures, and technical recommendations to a range of stakeholders.Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Word, PowerPoint, and Teams, as well as other collaborative platforms.A highly organized, detail-oriented approach with strong follow-through and a solutions-based mindset for troubleshooting and workflow improvement.A working style grounded in Versant’s “How We Do It” behaviors: Trust, by owning commitments and supporting reliable operations; Teamwork, by partnering across Engineering, Production, Distribution, and vendor teams; Transparency, by communicating status, risks, costs, and recommendations clearly; Agility, by adapting to evolving broadcast and streaming technology needs; and Entrepreneurial Spirit, by identifying smarter tools, workflows, and cost-saving opportunities.Bonus PointsDeep subject matter expertise in transmission, acquisition, or broadcast operations technology within a 24/7 media environment.Experience managing vendor SLAs, telecom services, security reviews, or technology onboarding processes.Familiarity with streaming video workflows and the intersection of traditional broadcast and IP-based distribution.Why You’ll Love It HereAt Versant, you’ll help support trusted brands and platforms that reach audiences across news, sports, entertainment, golf, and digital experiences.
