About the Position

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced  Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs)for travel contract opportunities in Gallup, New Mexico.

The Respiratory Therapist will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients across the lifespan, from neonatal and pediatric patients through adults and geriatric patients. This position requires strong acute-care experience and the ability to work effectively in a hospital environment supporting emergency, critical care, inpatient, outpatient, pediatric, and newborn populations.

Candidates should be comfortable working independently within their professional scope while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities may include:

• Provide respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
• Set up, operate, monitor, and manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation
• Provide oxygen therapy using appropriate delivery systems
• Assist with intubation, extubation, suctioning, airway management, and tracheostomy care
• Manage BiPAP and CPAP therapy, including neonatal bubble CPAP when assigned
• Administer nebulized and metered-dose respiratory medications
• Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) punctures, specimen handling, analysis, and interpretation within scope
• Perform applicable venous blood gas testing
• Support ventilator weaning and respiratory assessments
• Perform pulse oximetry and capnography monitoring
• Provide chest physiotherapy, postural drainage, percussion/vibration, and peak-flow monitoring
• Perform ECG/EKG procedures as required
• Respond to emergency, trauma, rapid-response, code, and critically ill patient situations
• Assist with respiratory support during patient transport
• Provide patient and family education
• Complete timely and accurate electronic clinical documentation
• Perform respiratory equipment setup, safety checks, troubleshooting, cleaning, and disinfection
• Maintain compliance with hospital infection-control, patient-safety, privacy, and clinical standards

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

• Current  Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Current, valid, unrestricted applicable professional licensure
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute-care Respiratory Therapy experience
• Current  Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) ,  Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Experience with adult ICU and ventilator management, trauma respiratory care experience, performing arterial blood gas procedures and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)certification
• Neonatal and newborn respiratory care experience
• Pediatric respiratory care experience
• Labor & Delivery / newborn nursery respiratory support experience
• Previous experience in IHS, tribal, federal, rural, or underserved healthcare environments
• Travel healthcare experience
