Fortner Engineering - Assembly Technician

Overview A key component of this position is to improve workflow, implementing standard work and instilling continuous improvement through problem‑solving methodology. Participation and cooperation with corporate strategic programs and other Wencor businesses. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Repair and/or assemble small aircraft components that require precise placement. Assist Assembly Supervisor as required. Order parts for repairs and assemblies. Use hand tools and shop power tools. Read blueprints and manuals. Perform testing and interpret results. Assemble complex components that require precise placement. Read and interpret drawings and blueprints. Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Interpersonal skills - focus on solving conflict, not blaming; remain open to others' ideas and try new things. Work overtime as required by production requirements without notice. Education and Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED and post‑high‑school education. Plus, 3-5 years of relevant experience in MRO. Other Qualifications Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands and Work Environment Frequently required to talk or listen. Frequently required to sit and use hands to assemble and work on parts. Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 50 pounds. Work in moderate noise levels.
