Director of Engineering

Flex Moving & Storage is transforming the traditional, often fragmented $90B+ moving, storage and last-mile delivery industry into a customer-first service with a wow experience online and offline. We are looking for a rock star technology leader for a team of 7-10 engineers including platform, mobile and web. The ideal candidate is a strong product builder, a technology evangelist and a passionate people leader in one, with the combination of customer-first mindset, technical depth, organizational intelligence, operational discipline, and analytical skills. This role is 100% remote within the United States with need-based travel to our offices. Regardless of location, you’ll be expected to work most of the EST hours. The role reports to the Chief Product and Technology Officer. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and supporting the architecture decisions and technology roadmap for Flex’s product suite, driving both the long-term initiatives and short-term quick wins to deliver the roadmap Driving SDLC process in a fast-paced, agile environment Maintaining a high standard and continuously raising the bar on the quality of software delivered Hiring, managing, and retaining top software engineering talent. Unblocking the team by making effective prioritization decisions and leading from the front through challenges and complexities Collaborating with product management, design, data, and other internal teams across the company to maximize the value of the products delivered Communicating closely with internal stakeholders and external integration partners We are excited if you bring 8+ years of prior IC experience doing hands-on development, with a record of performing at an Architect level On top of IC experience, 5+ years of experience as a people and process manager, including experience leading the engineering function at a company/division level High level of motivation, independence, teamwork, and passion for innovation Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in an fast-paced, agile environment A deep understanding of software engineering practices, including design, code quality, data structures, and technical problem solving A minimum of 1 year working experience using Node.js and MongoDB. React Angular, and React Native experience would be a bonus A track record of managing and delivering complex projects through the entire cycle from ideation to achieving business results A track record of accelerating people’s careers and developing the next generation of technology leaders Experience working with and managing geographically distributed teams Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience developing products on both sides of a marketplace platform is preferred Experience building integration with enterprise customers is preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr
