Behavioral Health Clinician I

Job Title

Responsible for the development and implementation of person-centered treatment plans that seek to resolve the current presenting difficulty and support the individual in stepping down to less intensive community settings as quickly as possible. Additional support in the areas of medication management, resource connection, counseling and advocacy will be provided as needed.

This is an at-will direct service position within a program. The position employee is responsible for assisting and advocating for our members in all areas of treatment and helps them in addressing barriers that prevent them from achieving chosen meaningful roles as well as supporting opportunities for clients to make informed decisions regarding their mental health treatment in order to enhance quality of life roles.

Essential duties and responsibilities include providing leadership and direction to clients/staff as assigned, empowering clients in meeting their goals, identifying, researching, advocating for and assisting clients in accessing and receiving mental health treatment, medical care, housing, food and clothing and other resources as indicated, coordinating intakes, responding to referral requests and working closely with hospitals and community providers to ensure smooth transitions of clients into the program, ensuring that all admission eligibility criteria are met and that appropriate documentation is received to facilitate new admissions, maintaining all client records and completing required documentation and data entry according to program standards including progress notes, activity reports, logs, etc., developing and implementing activities, programming, and groups that promote wellness and reduce propensity for recidivism, supporting clients' medication therapy through encouraging adherence to medication schedules as ordered by their doctor; supporting clients' efforts at improvement of daily functioning by modeling communication and behaviors that support the development of naturally occurring relationships, supporting clients in completing applications, setting appointments, and following through with appointments to other community support agencies, interacting productively within the team in order to provide holistic case management services to an identified group of clients, attending to the safety, health, and well-being of clients, completing paperwork as assigned, accurately and in a timely manner including but not limited to: Daily Progress Notes, Service Plan, Discharge, LOCUS assessments, Intake assessments, etc., providing on-the-spot counseling and family interventions as needed; providing prompt intervention in the event of a crisis both to stop the crisis and to notify when indicated, persons and agencies necessary for the resolution of the crisis, facilitating family support meetings to support the transition of clients into their naturally occurring support systems.

Minimum qualifications and certifications and licenses include education, training and experience: a master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field and two (2) years varied experience as a provider of mental health services; valid registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS); California driver's license & current vehicle insurance/registration; reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.

Skills required include Clinical - Community Mental Health Intermediate. Skills preferred include Social Services - Counseling Intermediate Clinical - Case Management Intermediate.

Education required includes Masters or better in Psychology. Masters or better in Social Work.

Experience preferred includes 2 years: A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is through graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field and two (2) years varied experience as a provider of mental health services; valid registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). Full licensure as an LMFT, LCSW or LPCC is preferred.

Licenses and certifications required include APCC ASW ACSW. Licenses and certifications preferred include AMFT.
