Pharmacy Manager

Job Purpose and Summary As a Pharmacy Manager at CVS Health, you will lead a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care, promotes best practices, and drives performance improvements. Your role focuses on transforming health care for customers, improving access, lowering costs, and acting as a trusted partner for every meaningful moment of health. Responsibilities Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, coaching and following up on performance measures. Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team in compassionate care, and proactively resolving insurance and medication issues. Offer and deliver immunizations, identifying, engaging, and supporting technicians to learn to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory, focusing on protecting cold chain products, and ensure all best practices are followed. Conduct onboarding for new Technicians and Pharmacists, training on CVS workflow and ensuring timely completion of required training and licensure. Maintain compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to the Rx DL as needed. Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a talent pipeline of cross‑trained colleagues and ensure timely completion of required training for licensure. Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, managing performance through direct observation, feedback, reviews, and gap closure. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Review business reporting for operational insights and develop action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance. Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion, building psychological safety and taking relevant action on feedback. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, pursuing company‑required trainings and CMEs. Support patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception) where permissible. Comply with all federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles, protecting patient privacy and maintaining a safe workplace. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. 1–2 years of experience as a Pharmacist. Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe. Essential Functions Attention and Focus: Concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Provide friendly customer service and team orientation, noting and responding to patient reactions. Communication: Use verbal and written skills to interact with patients and colleagues, employing active listening. Mathematical Reasoning: Calculate dosages, supply quantities, and related metrics. Problem Resolution: Identify challenging interactions and choose best course of action. Physical Demands Mobile and upright for extended periods; lift, scan, and bag items up to 20 lbs. Reach overhead and bend at waist; use lower extremities for moving items between low and high positions. Use fine motor control for typing, picking, pinching. Perform close visual tasks such as transcribing and reading small text. Team Management and Leadership Lead by example and set a positive tone. Delegate tasks, empower members, and foster collaboration. Motivate team members to adhere to standards and achieve high performance. Use problem‑solving skills to address challenges and innovate. Adapt to changing circumstances, taking ownership. Coach, reinforce, counsel, discipline, or terminate team members as needed. Preferred Qualifications Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM‑EL) program. 3–5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs. Compensation and Benefits Pay Range: $65.00 – $81.00 per hour (base hourly rate or annual salary).
