Multi-Skilled Producer (per diem)

Overview and responsibilities CBS News Detroit is looking for a bold and innovative producer who wants to become a leader. The candidate should thrive as an authority in the booth, let content decide the format, understand top story treatment, and excel at urgent production style and conversational writing. This is a per‑dimen position. We’ll be looking for someone who can lead all aspects of newscast production, assist with digital, social, and breaking‑news coverage, and shift could include mornings. Responsibilities Originate, research, lead, write, produce, and edit news segments for television and digital platforms. Collaborate with CBS Detroit’s team to ensure seamless coordination and execution of news. Work both in the control room, demonstrating adaptability and composure in fast‑paced situations. Flourishes with change and innovation, constantly seeking new ideas and approaches to connect with our audience. Assist in the station's goal of growing digital‑first content. Uphold impeccable grammar, spelling, and attention to detail in all content produced. Exhibit strong editorial judgment, effective communication, and critical‑thinking skills. Other duties as assigned. Basic requirements 2+ years of experience as a line producer. Additional requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in broadcast journalism or related field preferred. Excellent organizational and communication skills required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including overnight schedules, holidays, weekends. Must be a team player and able to work under deadlines and multi‑task.
